About Me

I’ve been working commercially as a Web and Graphic Designer for 6 years. I have a passion for good aesthetics, clear communication and straight-forward usability.

I like to think of myself as being easy to work with and good to talk to, which is important, given the necessity of understanding a client’s goals and message for a successful design.

So far, I’ve worked full time at three digital marketing agencies, a software development company, as an in-house designer at a major communications provider and been part of a IT support team. I also work freelance in my spare time, being commissioned for many of the projects you see on this site. I have a degree in Graphic Design, plenty of enthusiasm for all things digital, and now I’d like to work for you.

Below is a summary of my technical skills. Depending on who you are, you may or may not be interested in this. Either way, it’d be great to hear from you. Please get in touch!

Technical Skills

HTML / CSS / Javascript

All the sites I design are coded in fully standards compliant and accessible, SEO friendly XHTML and CSS. I am also proficient in Javascript, using APIs such as jQuery and Cufon to enhance user experience.

Wordpress / Joomla / PHP / MySQL

The majority of my sites run on Wordpress or Joomla content management systems. I build templates from the ground up and have a good understanding of PHP. I have been known to write the odd plugin and extension too.

Adobe Creative Suite

I use Photoshop and Illustrator on a daily basis for my visual design work. I use InDesign for much of my print work and Premiere / AfterEffects for the occasional bit of video production. I also have experience with Flash and basic ActionScript.

Server Administration

I have experience setting up and configuring Apache, MySQL, Subversion and Postfix technologies, amongst others, in Linux environments. I also have a Microsoft Certified Professional qualification. While I would by no means call myself an expert in this field, I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating on projects with people who are.
